The Icelandic Lyme grass is a common sight by the Icelandic cost line and on the black sand deserts in the Icelandic highlands, where it grows as a real testament of endurance. How can black sand provide such abundance? Lyme grass and its versatile applications were very prevalent in Icelandic households of the past. But what can it offer to the present?

This pop-up restaurant will open its doors where the guests will be offered to get to know the Lyme grass and its properties through the five senses. The guests will see, taste, drink and touch. At the end of the evening the place will close its doors for an undetermined amount of time.

four-course dinner plus a drink and the other four senses won’t be excluded. Reserve a seat by sending an e-mail to signyjonsdottir@gmail.com or call 8668290. Vegan option is available and take note that there is very limited seating.

The Reykjavík art museum hosts the event on behalf of Kjartan Óli Guðmundsson designer and chef, Signý Jónsdóttir product designer and Sveinn Steinar Benediktsson a master student in design by the Iceland University of the Arts. This event is a product of a research project Signý and Sveinn did on behalf of Rannís where the possibilities of Lyme grass were explored and Kjartans graduation project from the product design department of the Iceland University of the Arts where he put forward the question, how does a place taste
