Gallery Talk: Design for sculptor Ásmundur Sveinsson
Gallery talk with Ingunn Fjóla Ingþórsdóttir, Public Engagement Project Manager, through the exhibition Design for sculptor Ásmundur Sveinsson at Ásmundarsafn, consisting of products designed by five designers for the museum shop at Ásmundarsafn. In Icelandic.
The product designers Brynhildur Pálsdóttir, Björn Steinar Blumenstein, Friðrik Steinn Friðriksson, Hanna Dís Whitehead and Tinna Gunnarsdóttir were given the task of designing new products inspired by the works of sculptor Ásmundur Sveinsson for the Reykjavík Art Museum's shop in Ásmundarsafn. On that occasion, an exhibition was set up in Kúlan in Ásmundarsafn, with the designers products along with works by Ásmundur that have inspired the designers. Ásmundur Sveinsson's visual world has been a source of ideas for new useful products dedicated to the artist's memory and his contribution to Icelandic cultural and handicraft heritage.
The exhibition is part of Design March 2021.
