During winter vacation in elementary schools in Reykjavík, adults accompanied by children get free admission to Reykjavík Art Museum, from 23-27 October. There are various exhibitions at Hafnarhús, Kjarvalsstaðir and Ásmundarsafn and entertaining program for kids.

Yearning for Space, 2015.

The exhibition Yearning for Space will open in Ásmundarsafn on Friday, October 16 at 6 p.m., with works of Ásmundur Sveinsson (1893–1982), Gerður Helgadóttir (1928–1975), Jón Gunnar Árnason (1931–1989), and Sigurjón Ólafsson (1908–1982).

Kathy Clark: bears; truths... / Erró and Art History

The final day of the exhibitions Erró and Art History and bears; truths... by Kathy Clark at Hafnarhus is Sunday 19 October.

The illumination of the Imagine Peace Tower will be in a beautiful ceremony 9 October,  John Lennon‘s birthday, at 8 p.m. but John would have turned 75 years old this day. The programme starts at 5:30 p.m. and lasts until 9:30 p.m.

Reykjavík Art Museum offers Reykjavík Culture Pass owners 2 for 1 at Kjarvalsstaðir in October which means that they can invite a guest to the museum for free. There is also 2 for 1 on Coffee at the restaurant at Kjarvalsstaðir for Reykjavík Culture pass owners in October.

The Reykjavík Art Museum is pleased to present the exhibition Looking In – Sculptures and Models by Katrín Sigurðardóttir, which will be opened at Hafnarhús on 3 October at 4 p.m.

Richard Serra: Áfangar

The final day of the exhibition Áfangar by Richard Serra (b.1939) is Sunday 20 September. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the installation of the environmental artwork Áfangar on Viðey Island off Reykjavík.

There were a lot of people at the Sport Center in Austurberg in Breiðholt last Friday when the mural Queen of the Jungle by Erró was unveiled.
