Symposium: The Status of Women in the Icelandic Arts
The symposium is held in relation to the exhibition Circle, Square and Line, which is the first retrospective of works by Eyborg Guðmundsdóttir. Her works went inconspicuous for decades even though she had a significant career stretching itself to Europe to the modernism in Paris. She was productive during her short career but it lasted about 15 years as she passed away in 1977 only 53 years old. The participants of the symposium will shed light on the status of women in Icelandic art history whila also considering the the status of women in international art history. The working environment of Iclendic women artists will also be considered.
