Reykjavík Arts Festival Hub: Crossings - Abraham Brody
In our time we chart our way through so many barriers, from seas to social medias. We live between multiple countries, and can feel ourselves a part of diverse national and cultural identities. Lithuanian-american multi-instrumentalist, composer, and artist Abraham Brody presents a performance in which he explores the multi-layered identity of a contemporary artist living in a globalised world. He weaves ancient Lithuanian melodies into his compositions both in Lithuanian and English using elaborate looping techniques, voice, violin, piano, and other instruments both modern and ancient.
Abraham Brody has collaborated with renowned performance artist Marina Abramovic, and has recently been artist-in-residence at London’s Barbican Centre and National Sawdust in New York. Other highlights include a 2018 Baltic Tour with performances at the Great Amber Hall in Liepaja, a Kennedy Center debut in Washington, D.C., and a tour with Siberian Buryat folk musician Alexander Arkhincheev.
