Gallery Talk: Kjarval – key works from the collection
Ólöf K. Sigurðdardóttir director of the Reykjavík Art Museum and curator of the exhibition together with Edda Halldórsdóttir project manager in Collections and Research lead a gallery talk about the Kjarval exhibition on view.
Halldórsdóttir has written about Kjarval's relationship with collectors and patrons. The talk will focus on works that the museum has received as gifts from art collectors. In the collection of the Reykjavík Art Museum are numerous artworks that have been received by the museum as gifts from Jón Þorsteinsson's collection. Þorsteinsson was Kjarval's great benefactor and together with his wife, Eyrún Gudmundsdóttir, acquired a large collection of works by Kjarval.
