DesignMarch: HAV Marine-textile – Scandinavian fashion design
At the DesignMarch you wil have the chance to explore how Nordic fashion designers can contribute to a more sustainable textile industry.
The exhibition HAV features designs from 10 Nordic designers who competed in the Blue Fashion Challenge in the Faroe Islands in August 2017. There are unexplored potentials below sea level in the North Atlantic region, the fashion and textile industry may have underestimated the value of bi-products from the fish and marine industry. The designers were encouraged to create designs from marine biomaterials for example fishskin, sealskin and a jersey fabric made partly from seaweed.
The exhibition HAV features photos from the Blue Fashion Challenge, shot by the famous "street style" photographer Tommy Ton.
The HAV exhibition was in Klaksvík in the Faroe Islands and part of the Copenhagen Fashion Week last January. The exhibition will travel to Sweden and Rome, Italy.
Participating designers are Karen Sissal Kj Kristiansen, Kolbrún Ýr Gunnarsdóttir, Borghildur Gunnarsdóttir, Louise Lynge Berthelsen, Iben Bergstrøm, Marianne Mørck, Lizette S Stenroos, Frida Poulsen, Helena Manner og Lissi B. Andreassen.
The exhibition is arranged by NORA – Nordic Atlantic Cooperation on behalf of the Faroese Ministry of Fisheries and the Nordic Councils of Ministers.
