Gallery Talk with Björn Roth, Hafnarhús - Thursday 23 May 12.15
Björn Roth participates in a gallery talk in relation to Magnús Pálsson´s exhibition The Sound of a Bugle in a Shoebox. He will talk about the collaborations between Pálsson and his father, Dieter Roth. But together the two artists shared a studio in Reykjavík and later became influential figures in the Icelandic art scene and its transformations that took place in the 1960´s and 70´s.
The exhibition is a retrospective of the per¬formance work of Magnús Pálsson one of Iceland’s most prolific and influ¬ential artists of the last six decades. His roots in and love of the theatre medium have informed his art¬istic output, but so has his dedication to experi¬mentation and his unfailing belief in the non-segregation of art forms. Theatre, music, poetry, visual art and chor¬eography all lie within the same experi¬mental space that is Pálsson’s app¬roach to art.
The talk takes place in Icelandic.
