(I)ndependent People – Curator´s talk, film screening and sound performance - Hafnarhus, Thursday 24 May 5 p.m.
Curator Jonatan Habib Engqvist gives a talk about the (I)ndependent People project at Reykjavik Art Festival 2012 that has recently opened in various venues around Reykjavik and at Reykjavik Art Museum – Hafnarhús.
Following the talk a screening at The Demented Diamond of Kling & Bang’s Confected Video Archive of films and clips from the collaboration of Paul McCarthy, Jason Rhoades and Kling & Bang, Sheep Plug (2004). The project involved establishing a factory at KlinK & BanK, producing close to 200 sculptures out of sheep fat and lye; later shown at Kling & Bang gallery in Reykjavik. The piece was later moved to Paris where it was exhibited at the Dyonisiac at Centre Pompidou.
Last composer Áki Ásgeirsson and Guðlaugur K. Óttarsson will perform a sound piece composed in relation to the exhibition The Leyline Project (Steingrímur Eyfjörð + Ulrika Sparre) at Reykjavik Art Museum. The work refers to the Earths sherical harmonics and its mathematical constructions of making energy visible by sound. The duo also have an ongoing sound piece as a part of the installation in D- gallery at Hafnarhús.
