Kjarval‘s oddiTIES. Kjarvalsstaðir, Saturday 5 November 3 p.m.

Jóhannes Kjarval and artist Huginn Þór Arason.

Live event and open discussions led by artist Huginn Þór Arason in relation to the workshop Kjarval‘s oddiTIES. Huginn will bring forward objects, images and stories related to the workshop and discuss them in the light of performance art.

The painter Jóhannes S. Kjarval was known for his eccentricities that challenged the Icelandic society and its bourgeois values. The Workshop examines the idea if the artist’s eccentric behaviour and strange actions might be interpreted as performance art. Were they a part of the artist’s creative work-process and therefore containing a conscious artistic meaning? Artist Huginn Þór Arason is the instigator and curator of the workshop.
The event will take place in Icelandic.
