First prize for catalogue design
On the 17 March the exhibition catalogue Experiment Marathon was awarded the first prize for book design at the annual award festival of the Icelandic Graphic Association.
The book is published by the Reykjavik Art Museum in collaboration with the Serpentine Gallery in London. The designer is Gunnar Vilhjálmsson, who has been the museum’s head designer for the last several years.
The Experiment Marathon catalogue was released in connection with an exhibition, with the same title, that was curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Olafur Elíasson in Hafnarhús, spring 2008.
The project involved two days of experiments and a summer long exhibition, where a group of well-known international contemporary artists performed and exhibited. The project was also the main focus of Reykjavik Arts Festival in 2008. The catalogue Experiment Marathon has had an international distribution through Koenig Books and DAP in New York.
