INSIDE UNUHÚS (in Icelandic). SUNDAY 7 JUNE AT 3 P.M. KJARVALSSTAÐIR
Architect Gestur Ólafsson and the literary critics Jón Karl Helgason and Silja Aðalsteinsdóttir discuss the history of Unuhús, a little red house in Gardastræti, Reykjavik which hosted many great guests over the years, mostly poets, writers and artists. Among the regular guests in Unuhús were the painters Louisa Matthíasdóttir and Nína Tryggvadóttir which are the center figures at the exhibition From Unuhús to West 8th Street. The speakers talk about the landlord of Unuhús, Erlendur Guðmundsson, the regular guests and the relationship between Erlendur in Unuhús and Ragnar in Smára, who was a great supporter to the Icelandic cultural scene in the twentieth century. Curator Hrafnhildur Schram will lead a guided tour through the exhibition after the discussion. The exhibition is a part of Reykjavik Arts Festival 2009.
