TWO PREVIEWS IN HAFNARHÚS THURSDAY, 19 MARCH AT 5 PM. ELÍN HANSDÓTTIR AND JEANETTE CASTIONI
PARALLAX – ELIN HANSDÓTTIR
Individual artist is invited to create an exhibition that underlines connections with life that is happening outside the walls of the museum. With her installation, Parallax, in gallerie A Elin Hansdottir eradicates the distinction between private and public space with questions like:
- What is the relevance of adding a false facade to a building, the deception of which is revealed by a single step (pace) sideways?
- What happens if an exhibition hall is obliterated?
- What happens when a room which you assume to be situated in, is in fact another room?
- How can we speak of a specific point of view, in light of its relative nature?
The exhibition ends on May 17th.
Elín Hansdóttir is an Icelandic artist living in Berlin and Reykjavík. Her installations
focus on the act of paying attention, where the viewer is drawn into a physical
dialogue with the work, emphasizing his/her experience of being there. Recent shows include Art Against Architecture, National Gallery of Iceland, Frieze Projects in London, Between Two Deaths at ZKM Mediamuseum in Karlsruhe Germany.
Artist’s talk by Elín Hansdóttir Sunday, 22 March, at 3 pm.
